My work is about an encounter with a landscape, capturing a moment in time that will never be repeated, and the exhilaration and emotions I feel in that instant. I paint to sear that moment in my memory. These instances are precious, especially when I paint travelling with my children and loved ones.

I use a vibrant and expressive use of colour, with rich pigment, loose brush-marks and strong tonal contrasts to create a sense of light and space. I am not interested in imitating nature. Rather I want my work to be a gateway between our inner and outer worlds, that transports the viewer to evocative and ethereal landscapes with a dream-like quality.

Painting is deeply personal to me and I want it to express my emotions and inner self, imprinting my unconscious onto a landscape I encounter.  My work also tells a story of recovery from illness, through paintings that burst with colour, strength, and a penetrating beam of light that only comes from experiencing darkness.

I paint directly from nature, working outdoors, and recently relocated to Scotland to follow this calling. I am drawn to the experimental nature of watercolour; the way water and pigment move, shift, and flow into unpredictable patterns and forms. This free-flowing approach ensures each work is unique, echoing the singular, time-specific encounters of painting outdoors.
